Ruth Thorogood

For over a decade, Ruth ran a brand and marketing company but pivoted to abstract art during COVID. Having produced large-scale, high quality designs for corporate environments, the quality of her artwork is important to her. For Ruth Thorogood, art informs and inspires change. Her work focuses on highlighting inequities and delivers positive messaging for those struggling with mental health. Raised in North America, and in Congo and Kenya, she grew up inspired by her artist mother who helped transform their residence and community into generous spaces through art. Ruth’s art is influenced by the creative diversity and stark dynamics of these unique cultures, often including the bright colours she was immersed in as she grew up in the tropics.
